Mattoon Junior Baseball League and our facilities have long been the recipient of many local generous people who have made a lasting impact on the Junior Baseball community in our town. Most often we make a point to thank them properly.

This time we failed that important step. This is an effort to do so and so very long overdue. Many have overlooked this and I am certainly guilty of this as well. 

The sign honoring these efforts if now finally in place. It was never meant to slight anyone rather an poor oversight by the MJBL League. Please accept our apology.

Many years ago a local man, Ed Steel, organized an effort to install a top notch sound system and 7 flag poles at eth Mattoon Complex. He enlisted several groups to help him including, General Electric employees, many Veterans groups, local clubs, several businesses, and many individuals. It was a large undertaking. In the area of a $15,000 upgrade. Its main purpose........ to play the National Anthem before the kids play ball. That practice we have done ever since these people made this possible. In addition, it has allowed our participants to enjoy music during warm ups and made announcements a breeze.

This contribution to the Mattoon Junior Baseball complex has been enjoyed by many and will be for many years to com.... Thanks to Ed and the many who contributed. Please accept our appreciation for your efforts and an apology for our failure to properly display this sign.
